I was quite intrigued the Dyson-Trey-Hawkins line-ups that were used while Jose was out with illness. Trey and Hawkins have quite different profiles as shooters. Trey seems to be more of a spot-up guy and I think most of his pull-up threes come in transition., while Hawkins is more like JJ Reddick constantly flying off screens and handoffs into shooting opportunities. They complement each other quite well.. Dyson brings the defensive pressure, rebounding and passing ability to actually get them the ball where they need it. I was quite disappointed not to see the three of them on the floor at the same at any point during the Denver game. Willie Green isn't inflexible as a coach, but he tends to make changes to lineups and rotations at a slower pace than Pelicans Twitter likes.
I think you can build line-ups quite flexibly around that trio: another guard like Jose or CJ plus a big; a wing like Naji plus a big, two bigs like Zion and Nance or JV.
One day this season I hope to see a CJ-Hawkins-Trey-Matt Ryan-Zion line up. It's not something I think you';d play big minutes (and replacing Zion with JV might be a little more robus) but it could be fun to roll out for three minutes of chaos at a time.
Finally, the major name that doesn't make your list? Brandon Ingram. We know he has the ability to make threes (both off the catch and off the bounce), but I think he's just way to comfortable with his midrange jumper for his own good. I'm not expecting it soon given his history but I wonder if he'll have a career epiphany like CJ one day and reinvent himself as a high volume three point shooter.
Yeah I did not consider Ingram a shooter because unfortunately he has not shown the interest in taking on the much needed volume. To put it in perspective, Herb Jones and Brandon Ingram have made the same amount of threes this season, with Herb taking 9 fewer attempts
Almost infuriating to know how upside down the supporting data is for multi-shooter lineups. I recognize the starters dominate and support the one-shooter data, but there’s no reason not to fill the rest of the time with dual shooters at the least, especially. C’mon Pels decision makers!
Quickest, cleanest fix may be trading BI for picks & expirings etc, maybe a big & inserting Trey as SF & Hawk as 6th man. Just get this to Griff's burner account 😉
Have believed for some time Ingram should have been traded. Him and Zion don't fit together. He's at best a 2 on a good team and a 3 on very good team. But he believes he's the one. And Willie believes in him. For it to change Griff has to trade him.
Spot on as usual. The data is what it is and they ( the front office) knows. Coach Green is always going to lean into the past. Not a forward looking person. He likes overachiving hard working role players because that's what he was. He relates to that. If we ever expect to compete for a championship he can't be the coach. He wasted a year of Trey Murphys development and he's trying to do it again with Hawkins . Talent has to play . He loves Jose and Naji ( i do too) who are both an asset to the team. But shouldn't be playing more than Murphy and Hawkins.
Looks like someone on the Pels staff is reading your articles

Actually the starters are negative on the season! They contribute to the one shooter data being bad!
I do recall you sharing that recently…crazy given our success to date.

I think the quickest fix is actually play the shooters first without trading
Might be the quickest, but sooner or later it has to be done .
Still that's like 36 mins per game with BI gumming up things - that could all go to a shooter!
And don't forget we will be in the siakim situation after the season. Is the team willing to pay him 45 to 50 million a year .
Wonder if Philly could use him - where he would clearly be #3 but also with a real shot at a championship
